Engineered for Germination

How the KAN® System Work

The KAN® System is designed to streamline the entire germination process within one organized, reusable unit. Seeds are soaked, separated, and germinated in the same canister using a four-part design: the lid, strainer, base, and removable partition. Water is introduced for initial soaking, then partially drained to maintain ideal humidity. When paired with the optional FAR infrared heat pad, a gentle convection effect supports warmth and airflow-creating stable conditions for consistent germination. Each component plays a specific role in supporting clean handling, seed tracking, and dependable results.

Prepare the System

Start by placing a filter paper into the strainer and reinstalling the partition. This setup ensures moisture control while keeping seed varieties separated.

Load and Soak Seeds

Use our HUGGERS® cupped tweezers to carefully place seeds into the numbered sections of the partitioned strainer. Fill the outer canister with water up to the max fill line. As the inner strainer floats and gradually self-sinks, seeds are gently submerged and begin soaking in a dark, warm environment - the ideal conditions to start rehydration evenly and safely.

Create the Convection Environment

Set the sealed canister on our FAR infrared heat pad and increase the setting by +10°F above the target germination temperature. The pad generates a gentle convection flow, evenly distributing warmth and airflow to maintain stable, optimal conditions inside.

Drain and Transition to Germination

After draining, return the lid on the canister and set it back on our FAR infrared heat pad. Make sure the heat pad setting is increased +10°F above your target germination temperature. Gentle convection circulates warmth and air, creating a stable, oxygen-rich environment. Where the seeds sit elevated on the filter paper, conditions are precisely maintained for optimal germination

Monitor and Transplant

Over the next couple of days, seeds will begin to germinate. Use our HUGGERS® cupped tweezers and dibber to gently handle sprouted seeds, transplanting those with visible radicles no less than - ¼ to ½ inch long. Maintain ideal conditions by monitoring moisture, warmth, and condensation. Transplant seeds safely as they reach readiness.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • ➤ What types of seeds is the KAN® System best for?

It supports a wide range of seeds-including rare, expensive, or slow-to-start varieties-thanks to its consistent, controlled environment. If the seeds you are germinating require darkness, warmth & humidity, our system will provide you the best environment for successful germination.

  • ➤ Do I need the heat pad for the system to work?

It's highly recommended. The FAR infrared heat pad adds stable warmth and convection, increasing germination success and consistency.

  • ➤ Can I reuse the system?

Yes. All components are designed for reuse. The canister and seed tweezers are dishwasher safe, and filter papers can be reused under clean conditions. The partition chart is laminated and comes with a wet-erase marker. Our heat pad is rated for 30,000 +/- service hours.

  • ➤ Is the system safe for lab or sterile environments?

Absolutely. The polypropylene construction and lab-grade materials make it compatible with sterilization, ideal for commercial and research use.

  • ➤ How do I track different seed varieties?

The partitions are numbered. Each system includes a partition chart and wet-erase marker, allowing you to track type, quantity, and timing in a clear, reusable format.

  • ➤ How long does germination take?

This depends on the seed, but many sprout within 1–3 days. The KAN® System creates the ideal soak-to-sprout conditions for quicker, more uniform results.

  • ➤ What materials is the system made from?

The canister components are made from food-grade #5 polypropylene, known for chemical resistance, durability, and safety in lab or food environments.

  • ➤ Is the system compliant with international shipping or customs standards?

Yes. All electronic components (like the heat pad) carry FCC, CE, MET, and IP67 certifications, supporting both U.S. and international regulatory requirements

  • ➤ Can I receive an MSDS or technical datasheet?

Yes-technical documents and safety data are available upon request. These include materials breakdown and care instructions.
